Research Associate at the Hapag-Lloyd Center for Shipping and Global
Logistics (CSGL), at the University of Kühne Logistics (KLU).
He is in charge of the Kühne Chair of Logistics at the University of los
Andes. His research focuses on transport, economic geography, maritime
economy and energy efficiency with particular interests in international
trade, transport geography, transport costs, sustainable mobility
strategies, among other topics.

He is a civil engineer from
the University of los Andes with more than 29 years of experience and
nearly 200 projects and research on transport and mobility issues. He is
an associate professor at the University of los Andes and was Secretary of
Mobility in the Mayor's Office of Bogotá during the period 2016-2019. He
has been involved in various projects to promote public transport vehicles
and cargo toward zero emissions, as well as in regulations aimed at
improving the efficiency of transport companies.

Dr Vasco Sanchez Rodrigues is a Full Professor of Sustainable Supply Chain Management at Cardiff University. He is a highly active supply chain and logistics professional leading applied research projects and working closely with organisations within the retail, food and drinks, and logistics sectors in the UK and South American several countries. Currently, Vasco holds principal investigator roles in multiple projects, including the Co-operation for Growth Project (Co-growth), innovation Lean Effectiveness Green Operations (iLEGO) and food waste research projects funded by Ocado. Vasco also acts as principal expert of Giro Zero and is co-leading the development of several outputs of the project, i.e., Centre of Excellence for NetZero Road Freight Transport and Capacity Building Programme. Since 2018 he has actively contributed to successful funding proposals that led to projects which have a total budget of £4 million from BEIS/FCDO, Innovate UK, the Engineering Physical Science Research Council, WEFO, Welsh Government and Ocado. Vasco recently led the development of an executive education training course in supply chain analytics and logistics planning for Ocado, which is being delivered annually since 2021. Vasco publishes actively in top academic journals and holds several external academic leadership roles, including being the Chairman of the CILT-sponsored Logistics Research Forum and an editorial board member of Resources Conservation and Recycling.

Emrah Demir is a Professor of Operational Research in the Logistics and Operations Management Section of the Cardiff Business School. Before joining Cardiff University, Emrah worked as Assistant Professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands). He holds BEng and MSc degrees in Industrial Engineering from Baskent University (Turkey), and a PhD in Management Science from University of Southampton. Emrah's current research interests are positioned within the areas of green logistics and operational research. He possesses expertise in quantitative and analytical methods, such as exact and approximation methods. Senior Scientist at the Hapag‐Lloyd Center for Shipping & Global Logistics (CSGL) of Kühne Logistics University. Cristiam has graduated with a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering at the University of Valle in Colombia, and he finished his Ph.D. in University of Chile in January 2020.

Before joining the KLU, Cristiam worked in the GiroZero Project with Cardiff University in the UK and University of Andes in Colombia. GiroZero is a project funded of the UK Pact programme of the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

The project seeks to accelerate vehicle renewal and technologies to reduce the miles run, fuel consumed, and CO2 emitted by vehicles operating within the Colombian road freight transport sector.

During his Ph.D. studies, he was awarded The Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) scholarship from Government of Canada to do his doctoral internship in the prestigious Interuniversity Center for research in Entrepreneurial Networks, Logistics and Transportation (CIRRELT) in the École Polytechnique de Montréal-Canada, developing cutting-edge solution methods and algorithms for highly combinatorial and complex models.

He has 19 years of work experience in freight transportation in the private sector and public sector. He worked as transport planning specialist, project manager, operations manager and Senior Consultant for the National Planning Department (DNP) with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Also, he has developed freelance logistics and sustainable freight transportation projects with multilateral banking such as the World Bank for Bolivia, with the IDB for Peru, CAF for Panamá, and ICLEI for Colombia.
